Just like us, taking care of the oral maintenance of your pet’s body is crucial. If we have a sore tooth and we don’t take care of it, that tooth ache becomes a headache, so and so forth. And we most certainly don’t want to see any of our pets suffer! So, keep up the great work caring for your pets and take a check at your pet’s teeth. How do they look to you?

There is nothing easy about dog training. There is nothing easy about finding a dog trainer. Your family should choose what fits best for your pet. Always keep in mind your pets age and type of dog. And no matter what, your pet loves you and loves your love.

We love all pets, big and small. Being a pet owner is a gigantic responsibility that is 24-7. It most certainly is not a 10-hr job where you clock in and clock out. Before bringing a pet into your life, we recommend you make a list of pros and cons. Discuss this with someone you trust and who knows you. Be sure this is exactly something you can handle. And most importantly remember your needs, too!
]]>
WHAT CAN YOU DO AS A PET OWNER?
Changes in your dog’s appetite and behavior are red flags they may have been exposed to ticks. This can happen 7-21 days from the date of the bite (FYI). The best home remedy is to combine vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spritz on your dog. Or you can take a look at our store for tick preventable related products by clicking here.
As for outdoor safety, beware of freshly sprayed yards for pesticides prevention and newly grown flowers. Some flowers are highly sensitive for dogs. Spray that prevents weeds from growing can also be harmful. Mainly, stay alert for the tag signs in the grass when walking your pet.

Martini Dog—is your dog in the middle of rehabilitating themselves by wearing a cone around his neck?! No need to be down about it, make it fun! Add a pet friendly item to group the olives together and there you have it, A MARTINI!
Black Bat
For either your cat or dog, gather black felt. Cut out shape of bat wings. Attach it to a pet friendly collar. I mean how ironic is a black cat dressed as a black bat?!
Lego Dog
Particularly for small dogs, gather a shoe box and flexible card board. The shoe box can be painted which will be used at the base of the Lego (put on main body of your dog) then create 2 circler shapes to glue to the middle of the top of the “base”.

]]>Etiquette in public places: our advice, keep your pup on a leash. Most states it’s the law to keep them on a leash. More importantly, you may know your dog is OK without one, but the person nearby does not—especially if they are a child or elder person. We also recommend to keep your dog close to you when other dogs walk by, this way it will create comfort and calmness for both dogs. Always ask the owners permission!
Etiquette in a dog park: to avoid the extra excitement of your pet, try to make the dog park part of his daily activities but not just the ONLY one.

Cost of coverage is based typically on the animal’s age, health profile and the level of care you choose. Generally, older animals cost more to cover—and some companies have age limits. Also, there may be exclusions for pre-existing conditions, and some insurers may not cover certain breeds that are prone to hereditary conditions. Usually, there are 3 different types of coverage – Basic, Comprehensive, and Pet Well Care. When you are shopping for pet insurance, you may come across a variety of discounted plans. In fact, some employers have begun offering pet insurance.
The Pros
Most animals older than eight weeks are eligible for coverage, and you can choose any licensed veterinarian you wish. Plans that cover both accidents and illnesses can cost around $50.00 per month for dogs and about $30.00 per month for cats. Coverage can significantly reduce the price of many treatments and surgeries, with some policies reimbursing up to 90 and even 100 percent of the cost. Pet insurance, like any type of insurance, also offers peace of mind.
The Cons
Comparing policies side by side can be difficult because of the many insurance terms. If you enroll, you may have to front the money for veterinary bills and then request reimbursement from the insurer. Many pet insurance companies will offer low premiums when your pet is young, but as they age, pet insurance rates may climb too. And not unlike health insurance for humans, a large number of plans won't cover charges related to a preexisting condition.
If your pet is older and has had multiple surgeries or a chronic issue, pet insurance won't actually do much. And if your pet develops a chronic condition while covered, the company could drop your coverage or raise your premium unless you have a plan that offers "continuing coverage."
Either way you see it, pet insurance is definitely something to research and look into. A few pet companies are Healthy Paws, ASPCA, FIGO, Pets Best, and Pumpkin. You can read more about them here. Also, check out Pawlicy Advisor & State Farm for more information. Remember, keeping your pet healthy with smart, preventative care their entire life will be key to less vet visits and less money spent. Invest in good, quality food, vitamins, stimulating games, and lots of love.

]]>“A dog dad is the proud owner of a dog and loves his dog like he would love his own kids—if he had any. Dog dads will eagerly tell anyone who will listen about the random mundanities of his dog's life, even if no one asked. Dog dads get minted at any age, whether it's adopting a new puppy, or rescuing a senior dog to live a good life in comfort.”
June means Father’s Day! Whether you’re a father of a human, fur baby, or both – Let us be the first to wish you a wonderful Father’s Day. Being a dog dad is no easy job… you must protect your “protector”, take them with you most places, and clean up after them in your backyard. Your dog wants to mow the lawn with you, go for rides with you, chases your truck down the driveway… your dog looks at you like you are their world. If you know what I’m talking about, you are a Dog Dad!
First sign you are a Dog Dad – Considering them before making a purchase
If you are going back and forth between two different trucks, but one has a larger back seat for your dogs…. You are a dog dad! Go for the bigger one, Ringo will love the leg room!
Another sign you’re a Dog Dad is breaking your own rules. If you were reluctant to get the dog in the first place, made a long, long, long list of rules, and threw them out the window the first night your dog snuggled up next to you on the couch… you, my friend, and a Dog Dad!
Dogs are truly a man’s best friend and I’m not sure I want it any other way! It’s a great feeling to see your pup waiting for you after a long day of work, running beside you during a workout, or hogging the bed at night (love/hate relationship). We hope each and every dad out there has a fantastic day!

]]>The national Holiday of Juneteenth is on June 19, 2021. Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. An exciting development is that West Virginia is marking Juneteenth as a State Holiday!
Sometimes there are parades, barbeques, or festivals to honor the Holiday. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate you could find a local event, host a party, prepare traditional foods, support Black-owned businesses, or visit a museum or exhibit dedicated to Black culture.
"Hold those things that tell your history and protect them. During slavery, who was able to read or write or keep anything? The ability to have somebody to tell your story to is so important. It says: 'I was here. I may be sold tomorrow. But you know I was here.'"- Maya Angelou

When it came to treats, she couldn’t find exactly what she was looking for, and was alarmed at all the product recalls and poor-quality treats on the market. At that point she decided to take matters into her own hands.

Last summer we got to spend unlimited amounts of time with our pets! Staying home wasn’t so bad because we got so much extra time to go on walks, play outside, or just hangout with our furry best friends. Now this Summer, we can spend time with our pets and friends! As the vaccine rolls out and more and more people get vaccinated, the world is becoming a much more normal place. In this blog, let’s talk BBQs, Beach, and Summertime fun.
Although we correlate Memorial Day with Summertime, there’s a much more important reason to celebrate. Traditionally Memorial Day is viewed as a time of honor and remembrance. Memorial Day 2021 formally known as Decoration Day, is a federal holiday observed yearly on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day 2021 is a day that commemorates all men and women who have died while serving in the military for the United States of America. Throughout the United States it is common to visit cemeteries, particularly military ones, and decorate graves of the deceased with flowers, small flags and wreathes. Other common traditions of Memorial Day 2021 that are still practiced today include the raising the U.S. flag quickly to the tops of flagpoles, slowly lowered to half-mast, and then it is raised again to full height at noon. Don’t be afraid to thank someone for their service. It means more than you’ll ever know.
Nothing quite screams Summer like a Dog Beach! Throw on your suit, grab the sunblock, and head to the Shoreline! There are several Dog Beaches in our area, Southern New Jersey. They are usually full of different breeds running around releasing all the pent-up energy they’ve stored since Winter! Going to the Dog Beach may be better than people watching! Be sure to check out Longport Dog Beach, Beach Haven Dog Beach, and Wildwood Dog Beach this summer! Before your dog hits the beach, make sure their nails are on point! Grab a Scratch Square for your sandy BFF so he or she can run the beach with perfect, manicured nails.
Another fun Summer activity to do with your dog is boating! Boating with a dog can be SO much fun. First, make sure you invest in a canine life jacket. Second, bring plenty of water for your pup! They are going to be very excited and may attempt to drink the Ocean or Lake water. Having clean, fresh water on standby can help deter your dog from drinking that water. Another tip is to check the temperature! Dog can overheat too, so it’s very important to protect your dog from harmful UV rays. Dogs can get sunburn just like us humans! Happy boating!
